About Our Local Food

We are a network of local farms, farmers markets, food businesses and consumers committed to increasing the diversity, production and sales of fresh, local foods here in Kansas.

Our mission begins on the farm--with the foods we produce, how they are grown and how they reach the consumer. We partner with K-State Research and Extension, the Kansas Vegetable Growers Association and other local agencies to regularly inform producers on marketing trends and changing regulations, and to advise on the growing and marketing of specialty crops.

Then, our mission extends to the marketplace, to educate and inspire consumers and food businesses to support local producers. For consumers, interaction with food producers enhances value. We sponsor public local food events to make those personal connections, and offer funding for public market events promoting specialty crops.

Now is the time to actively support Kansas food producers. Now is the time to build a strong local food economy. Be a Vocal Local!
