Shepherd's Valley
Description:
Shepherd's Valley provides its shareholders with spring, summer, and fall CSA shares offering a wide variety of farm fresh organically grown fruits and vegetables each week of the season. Winter greens are also available. Our pastured poultry are fed a certified organic grain ration and trace minerals, providing our customers with options to purchase meat broilers, large brown eggs, and heritage turkeys for the Thanksgiving season. Grass-fed lamb is available seasonally, and soon grass-fed beef. Customers may also purchase honey and bee products, jams, jellies, and handmade soaps. Everything we do on the farm is "above and beyond organic" and has been for over 30 years. Weekly deliveries are available in Emporia, Council Grove, Topeka, and monthly to Manhattan. You can visit us at the Morris county farmers market each Tuesday evening from May through September downtown in Council Grove. You do NOT have to be a CSA shareholder to purchase food from us, but shareholders do receive first priority. Farm tours are available by appointment. John Crisp is a founding member and current president of the Emporia Area Local Food Network, and teaches sustainable agriculture courses at the Flint Hills Technical College in Emporia.
